Grammy Award winning artist
headlines the Young Avenue Deli.
Memphis, TN – June 20, 2015 – The
“Blues + Brews: An Evening With…” concert series is back with its fourth
installment. This Blues + Brews presents a breath of fresh summer air, as
Grammy Award winning artist Alvin Youngblood Hart and his Muscle Theory takes
stage in the Mid-South. This concert is sure to be a dynamic and intimate evening
with one of the blues most renowned musicians.
Hart adopted the
nickname "Alvin" from the harmonica-playing front man for the
television cartoon group The Chipmunks and is now known as one of the world's
foremost practitioners of country blues. With a traditional blues sound, Hart blends a
steady sound of country, rock and blues.
Doors at Young Avenue Deli open
at 9pm and Alvin Youngblood Hart’s Muscle Theory will take the stage at 10pm.
Tickets for the event are available at the door and craft beer drink specials
will be provided by AS Barbaro all evening long.
About Alvin Youngblood Hart
Alvin Youngblood Hart hit the
blues scene like a shockwave in 1996 with his debut album “BIG MAMA’S DOOR.” In 1997 the strength and
success of Hart’s first album earned him five nominations in prominent W.C.
Handy Blues Awards now the Blues Music Awards. With nominations including Best
New Artist, Best Acoustic Artist, and Best Traditional Blues Artist and his
album (BIG MAMA’S DOOR) was nominated for both Acoustic Album of the Year and
Traditional Album of the Year. Hart took home the award for Best New Artist, an
honor for an artist who was once said to have the ability to carry the blues
torch for Generation X. His sophomore album “TERRITORY” was voted Best Blues
Album and in 2003 the release of “DOWN IN THE ALLEY” garnering Grammy Award
nominations setting the precedent Hart was now carrying the blues torch into a
new generation. Hart received a Grammy in 2004 for his philanthropic
contribution to the compilation BEAUTIFUL DREAMER: THE SONGS OF STEPHEN FOSTER.
After joining forces with friends Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars,
Black Crowes) and Jimbo Mathus (Squirrel Nut Zippers, Tri-State Coalition) in
2010 to form “The South Memphis String Band.” The fun-loving and regaling trio
was quickly dubbed by the media as an “acoustic super group” while their debut
record HOME SWEET HOME was received with rabid enthusiasm. The 2011 Blues Music
Awards (The Blues Foundation) nominated the record for “Best Acoustic Album.”
Currently when Alvin Youngblood Hart is not touring solo, he is plugged in with
revered rock trio “Alvin Youngblood Hart’s Muscle Theory.”
